Katko Welcomes Representative Mayra Flores to the Homeland Security Committee

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement welcoming newly-elected Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX) to the Committee.

“I am thrilled to welcome Representative Mayra Flores to the Committee on Homeland Security. Representing the hardworking people of the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), she has seen firsthand the devastating impacts the Biden Border Crisis is having on border communities and Americans. She brings a breadth of experience and a unique perspective on border security from which the Committee will benefit greatly. Since President Biden has been in office, there have been over 2.99 million migrant encounters at the southwest border, largely in the RGV sector. The Biden Border Crisis is only getting worse as the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, criminals, and people are wreaking havoc on American communities. Representative Flores will be critical in our efforts to support our dedicated border law enforcement and advance the homeland security mission.”
