WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) and Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS) introduced the Overtime Pay for Protective Services Act of 2023, which will extend the authority to ensure that United States Secret Service agents are compensated for the additional work that is required of them.
 
“For the brave men and women of the Secret Service, protecting our nation’s leaders isn’t just a job, it’s a calling; and they deserve to be compensated fairly for the hours they work and for putting their lives on the line,” Chairman Green said. “As the Secret Service works to recruit and retain the best law enforcement professionals for this critical mission, Congress must ensure they are never taken for granted.”
 
“With a long presidential election ahead and workforce attrition on the rise, it is critical that the Secret Service has the authority to provide employees with the overtime pay they deserve,” Ranking Member Thompson said. “I am proud to join Chairman Green in co-sponsoring this bipartisan homeland security legislation.”
