Rogers, Katko Support Krebs’ Vision for CISA

WASHINGTON – House Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) and Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Innovation Subcommittee Ranking Member John Katko (R-N.Y.) released a joint statement following Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Chris Krebs’ release of the agency’s strategic intent.

“We welcome Director Chris Krebs’ strategic vision for CISA to accomplish its congressional mandate to manage the nation’s cyberrisk. Americans and our institutions face dynamic risks both in cyber and physical space. Government must work across sectors, industry and borders to identify, better understand and mitigate these risks. CISA’s creation last year was a good first step, but now the agency must execute this vision.

“The priorities and objectives Director Krebs laid out are valuable in signaling the seriousness with which CISA is approaching these challenges. However, it also allows for accountability both from the public and Congress. We look forward to working with CISA as it implements this vision and remain committed to its success.”

Background: Last Congress, Homeland Security Committee Republicans spearheaded CISA’s creation with the enactment of H.R.3359, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018.
