MEDIA ADVISORY: Markup for “Cyber PIVOTT Act,” 119th Congress Committee Oversight Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the House Committee on Homeland Security will hold a markup for the 119th Congress Oversight Plan, H.R. 1000, H. Res. 113, and H. Res. 114.
Legislation to be considered includes:
- House Committee on Homeland Security Oversight Plan for the 119th Congress;
- H.R. 1000, the ‘‘Providing Individuals Various Opportunities for Technical Training to Build a Skills-Based Cyber Workforce Act of 2025,” or the “Cyber PIVOTT Act;”
- H. Res. 113, directing the Secretary of Homeland Security to transmit to the House of Representatives certain documents relating to Department of Homeland Security policies and activities related to the security of Department information and data and the recruitment and retention of its workforce;
- H. Res. 114, directing the Secretary of Homeland Security to transmit to the House of Representatives certain documents relating to Department of Homeland Security policies and activities related to domestic preparedness and collective response to terrorism and the Department’s cybersecurity activities.

BACKGROUND:
The House Committee on Homeland Security Oversight Plan for the 119th Congress includes work to ensure DHS bolsters America’s cybersecurity, secures our borders, executes its broader mission while safeguarding taxpayer dollars, counters the evolving threat of terrorism on U.S. soil, and more.
The “Cyber PIVOTT Act” was reintroduced this Congress by Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) and cosponsored by Reps. Michael Guest (R-MS), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Dale Strong (R-AL), Sheri Biggs (R-SC), and Gabe Evans (R-CO). Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI), Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY), and Rep. Mike Ezell (R-MS) are also cosponsors. Sens. Mike Rounds (R-SD) and Gary Peters (D-MI) introduced companion legislation in the Senate. This legislation was advanced out of the Committee on a bipartisan basis in the 118th Congress.
