The site visit follows a letter and subsequent subpoena from Chairman Green to Secretary Mayorkas, demanding documents and information related to the USSS’ planning for the event, and DHS’ response in the immediate aftermath.

Additionally, Monday’s visit follows an invitation from Chairman Green to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray to testify publicly on Tuesday, July 23, in a hearing to examine the facts and circumstances surrounding the attempt on President Trump’s life.

Since the attempted assassination of former President Trump, the Committee has been in contact with department officials to obtain answers to the many questions the American people  have. Chairman Green spoke with Director Cheatle on Sunday, July 14, and with FBI Executive Assistant Director Robert Wells on Monday, July 15. The Committee also joined a member-wide briefing call with Director Cheatle and Director Wray on Wednesday, July 17.
