Pfluger Announces Subcommittee Hearing on Countering Threats from the CCP to the Homeland

WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX) announced a subcommittee hearing which will focus on the numerous threats the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) poses to the U.S. homeland and what steps must be taken to mitigate the threat to U.S. homeland equities.

“Right now, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is operating below the threshold of traditional warfare in an attempt to deceive the West as it carries out its mission for global military dominance by 2049,” said Chairman Pfluger. “This strategy is creating a significant security gap for the U.S., and the CCP is displaying brazen confidence in their international dominance, as we saw last month when the CCP launched a surveillance balloon over the U.S. The CCP is committing acts of espionage, IP theft, cyber intrusions and general acts of aggression against the U.S. as the Biden administration continues to assume a soft stance when it comes to the adversarial nation. This Subcommittee will take all steps necessary to mitigate any threats posed by the CCP to the U.S. homeland. Safeguarding the critical infrastructure sectors is a core aspect of the homeland security mission that impacts a wide range of industries vital to the daily lives of Americans.”
