MEDIA ADVISORY: Chairman Green Leads Homeland Security Members on First Trip to Southwest Border

WASHINGTON, DC— This week Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) is leading the new and returning members of the House Homeland Security Committee on a “border bootcamp” to the border in El Paso, Texas to get a firsthand look at and be briefed on the daily operations of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Texas State law enforcement partners during President Biden’s current border crisis. Chairman Green will be joined by:

  • Vice Chair Michael Guest (R-MS)
  • Border Security & Enforcement Subcommittee Chair Clay Higgins (R-LA)
  • Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC)
  • Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY)
  • Rep. Mike Ezell (R-MS)
  • Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY)
  • Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R-TX)
  • Rep. Dale Strong (R-AL)
  • Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK)
  • Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ)

“Despite the record number of illegal encounters, drugs coming across the border, migrant deaths, unaccompanied alien children, and known or suspected terrorists attempting to enter our country, President Biden has failed to acknowledge the unprecedented, deadly crisis at the Southwest border,” said Chairman Green. “Created by his refusal to enforce the laws on the books, this crisis poses the single-most immediate threat to our homeland security. As the Committee with legislative jurisdiction over border security and tasked with developing the legislative solution to President Biden’s border crisis, it is imperative our members see the impacts of the crisis at the border firsthand in order to address properly the dire situation through our efforts. Failure to act is simply not an option.”
