Rep. Rogers on President Trump’s National Emergency Declaration

WASHINGTON – Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), House Homeland Security Committee ranking member, issued the following statement after President Donald Trump declared a national emergency due to coronavirus.

“President Trump made the right decision to declare a national emergency this afternoon. This necessary measure will help protect our nation by using our collective resources and ingenuity to overcome the coronavirus outbreak. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, and the rest of the federal government now can assist the medical personnel who are fighting this virus on the front lines,” Rep. Rogers said. “My heart and prayers continue to go out to those who have been impacted by coronavirus.”
