MEDIA ADVISORY: Garbarino Announces Hearing on Growing the National Cybersecurity Talent Pipeline
WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Chairman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) announced a hearing next Thursday, June 22, on growing the national cybersecurity workforce.
“One of our nation’s foremost challenges is defending America’s critical infrastructure and federal networks from malicious cyber actors, and at the forefront of this defense is a dedicated and talented team of cybersecurity experts,” Chairman Garbarino said. “Unfortunately, there are close to 700,000 cybersecurity job openings nationally, leaving public and private entities, including our nation’s risk advisor, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, with a persistent workforce shortage. In response to this challenge, this Subcommittee is committed to growing a talent pipeline across the country to expand our collective defense and combat the complex threats posed by our cyber adversaries.”
