WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY) issued the following statement regarding the arrest of Nicolás Maduro:  

“Nicolás Maduro—a narcoterrorist and illegitimate leader who has empowered the designated foreign terrorist organization Cartel de los Soles—will rightfully stand trial for facilitating the trafficking of deadly drugs across our borders that have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans.
 
“I applaud the men and women of our Armed Forces and federal law enforcement for executing a warrant to bring justice for these families and fulfill our responsibility to keep Americans safe.
 
“I look forward to receiving updates from the Trump administration on the next steps and learning more about its whole-of-government efforts to disrupt the operations of transnational criminal organizations and end the deadly flow of drugs into our country.”
