September 16, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY) issued the following statement after the State of Utah announced charges against the suspect alleged to have assassinated Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was shot and killed during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University:
“Please continue to pray for the family and friends of Charlie Kirk, a devoted father and husband, and a fierce free speech advocate who empowered a generation of young Americans to thoughtfully engage with those they disagree with, a foundational principle of our democratic process. We must remain united in condemning political violence, particularly as we face heightened threats from radical ideologies and domestic terrorism in our communities. I am grateful for the work of law enforcement to bring the individual charged with this heinous crime to justice. I am confident that if found responsible, he will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
