MEDIA ADVISORY: Chairman Garbarino Announces Hearing to Weigh Reauthorization, Reforms of “Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015”
May 9, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), chairman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Protection, announced a hearing for next Thursday, May 15, to weigh the reauthorization of the “Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015” (CISA 2015), which is set to expire in September 2025, and discuss opportunities for reform.
“CISA 2015 has built the foundation of trust for industry to share information proactively with private sector and government partners. In this increasingly complex threat environment, actionable information sharing across the public and private sector is essential to ensuring our nation’s readiness to detect and thwart cybersecurity threats from our adversaries,” Chairman Garbarino said.“With the expiration of CISA 2015 quickly approaching, Congress must act swiftly to examine and reauthorize the federal government’s ability to close gaps in visibility across government and industry. I look forward to hearing valuable insights from our private sector partners who can shed light on the value this law has provided to the cybersecurity ecosystem, as well as potential opportunities to strengthen public-private partnerships and the United States’ cybersecurity defense as we consider enhancements to CISA 2015.”
