Chairman Green: House Committee on Homeland Security Will “Go Where the Facts Lead Us” on Holding Mayorkas Accountable
November 30, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This evening, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released the following statement regarding the Committee on Homeland Security’s ongoing investigation into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:
“Every House Democrat on the floor a couple weeks ago voted to send the impeachment resolution to the Committee on Homeland Security, so the hysterics now are blatantly hypocritical and unserious. You don’t get to vote for something and then complain when it happens. This, of course, is part of a tired pattern where Democrats refuse to defend Secretary Mayorkas’ open-borders policies. This Committee has been diligently investigating Secretary Mayorkas’ intentional border crisis for most of this year. We are nearing the conclusion, and will—as I’ve said all along—go where the facts lead us.”
Throughout the course of the months-long investigation, the Committee has released detailed reports of its findings regarding the causes, costs, and consequences of the unprecedented border crisis raging since early 2021. Read the Committee’s interim report on the first phase of the investigation, covering Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty, here. The Committee’s second interim report on unprecedented cartel control of the Southwest border, can be read here.
