Chairman Green Statement on the Biden Admin’s Plan for the End of Title 42

“This is not a solution to the crisis at the Southwest border.”

WASHINGTON, D.C – House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released the following statement on the Biden administration’s plan for the end of Title 42 next month:

“It’s clear the Biden administration’s approach to ‘border management’ is to identify more expeditious ways to process illegal aliens and release them into the interior of the United States. This is NOT a solution to the crisis at the Southwest border and does NOT qualify as a ‘plan.’ Secretary Mayorkas is doubling down on his failed policies.

“This measure is also another tactic to doctor monthly encounter data so the administration can continue trying to hide the reality of what is happening at the border.

“The fact of the matter is, since the day President Biden took office, he has signaled to the cartels, smugglers, and the world that our borders are wide open. He has also undermined the rule of law in our country by refusing to enforce the laws of our nation. President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas have single-handedly created a multi-billion-dollar industry for the cartels controlling the Mexican side of the U.S.-Mexico border. This is the definition of failure.

“Make no mistake, this plan puts ‘border management’ over border security. And in the meantime, the American people will be the ones to feel the devastating effects. Luckily, Homeland Security Republicans sent the Border Reinforcement Act of 2023 to the House floor to properly address this crisis as the single biggest threat to our homeland security.”
