Chairman Green: Homeland Security Republicans Will Interview Every Border Sector Chief to “Investigate Whether or Not Mayorkas Lied to Congress”

WASHINGTON, DC – House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) today joined Fox News’ America’s Newsroom to discuss this week’s bombshell border hearing in Pharr, Texas. In the hearing, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz confirmed for Homeland Security Republicans that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is either incompetent or lied when he said they had “operational control” of the Southwest border.

Here is what Chairman Green had to say about the next steps for the Committee on Homeland Security following this week’s hearing:

“We’ll investigate whether or not Mayorkas lied to Congress. The American people want to know if the Cabinet Secretary really lied.”

 

“One of the things [Chief Ortiz] did also say in that hearing this week is that five of the nine sectors are unsecured, so we’re sending letters out today for transcribed interviews, requesting to speak to all nine of the sector chiefs.”

 

“We have to find out who exactly is in control of our southern border, if we’re not. I think I know the answer. I think most Americans know the answer—it’s the drug cartels in Mexico.”

 

“We have a bill that will secure the border, and we’ll drop that here in the next few weeks.”
