WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, and Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement on the recent passing of former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta.
“Secretary Mineta’s contributions to transportation security and the homeland security mission cannot be overstated. He was a trailblazer who stepped up to take the reins on a meaningful mission during some of our nation’s darkest days following the terror attacks of September 11th. His legacy will live on through his many contributions to our nation. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to Secretary Mineta’s family and loved ones during this very difficult time.”
