Katko Applauds Indictment Of Kaseya Ransomware Attackers
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, commented on the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) announcement that two foreign nationals have been charged in connection with ransomware attacks against multiple victims, including the software company Kaseya in July 2021:
“The DOJ’s indictment of these individuals should put every cybercriminal on notice: the United States will aggressively pursue and punish those who attempt to disrupt our economy with cyber attacks. There should be no safe haven for these bad actors, and I applaud the DOJ for working with CISA and international partners to bring those responsible to justice. Moving forward, we must use every available tool to disrupt, deter, and prevent future threats to our economic and national security. Bad guys only understand strength, which is why the federal government must continue actions like this to serve as a significant deterrent to those wishing to do us harm.”
