Bipartisan Group of Homeland Security Leaders Continue Oversight of DHS Workforce Vaccination Plan

Washington, DC—Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, was joined by Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Management and Accountability, and Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Management and Accountability in conducting their oversight responsibility of the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to vaccinate its essential workforce from COVID-19.

In a letter to DHS Secretary Mayorkas, the bipartisan group of Homeland Security Committee leaders expressed concern for the limited progress made on the workforce vaccination front over the last few months. They stated, “It is imperative that those on the frontlines are vaccinated to continue the vital work of the Department to secure our homeland during the pandemic. It is also imperative that the Department administer the vaccines in an efficient, safe, and equitable manner.”
