BORDER BRIEF: June Border Numbers Show That Border Security, Interior Enforcement Are Inseparable
July 18, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the House Committee on Homeland Security released its newest “Border Brief” factsheet, detailing the June U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, which confirms that President Trump has delivered the most secure border in U.S. history. Last month, there were only 6,072 Southwest border apprehensions, the lowest month of illegal Southwest border crossings ever recorded. By contrast, during the Biden-Harris administration, Border Patrol apprehensions at the Southwest border exceeded 6,000 per day for an entire month 16 different times just between Fiscal Years 2022-2024. Given this news, it is no surprise that a new Harvard-Harris poll revealed that the majority of Americans (60%) support President Trump’s efforts to secure our borders.
Allowing our frontline U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents, CBP officers, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to do their jobs and enforce the law resulted in just 25,228 total encounters nationwide in June—the lowest monthly total in CBP history. President Trump’s restoration of law and order at our borders also ensured that zero illegal aliens were released into the interior last month, compared to the 27,766 inadmissible aliens that were paroled into our communities by the Biden-Harris administration in June 2024 alone. At the same time, the Trump administration is working to ramp up interior enforcement, which goes hand-in-hand with strong border-security policies in serving as a deterrent to illegal immigration.
Democrats are doubling down on their support for illegal aliens despite Americans’ clear demand for a secure border and law and order. Recent radical, anti-ICE rhetoric from congressional and state Democrats has led to an alarming 830% increase in assaults against ICE officers. Democrats are utterly out of touch with the American people. This reckless behavior has not deterred our nation’s brave law enforcement from carrying out its mission to remove illegal aliens from our communities. So far under the Trump administration, ICE has averaged 47,000 deportations every month.
“President Trump has now delivered the most secure border in our nation’s history, and Republicans need to keep our foot on the gas,” Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement Chairman Michael Guest (R-MS) said. “House Republicans passed the Budget Reconciliation to secure our border and empower mass deportations––but we are just getting started. Congress must work alongside President Trump to codify Trump’s successful border-security policies and to ensure the Biden Border Crisis is never repeated.”
“President Trump and his administration have demonstrated that securing our border requires enforcing existing law, unlike the previous administration,” Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX) said. “In June, the nation recorded a total of 25,228 encounters, the lowest monthly number since 2003. As a representative of a border state, I can confidently say my constituents not only feel safer — they are safer — thanks to President Trump’s America First policies.”
“Thanks to President Trump, the border is more secure than ever. In June, illegal crossing dropped to the lowest level in recorded history,” Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) said. “Illicit drugs are being seized before they ever even have the chance to reach the streets and kill Americans. This is the Golden Age of America, where citizens are protected and prioritized.”
“Nothing has been more important than the President’s immediate and effective work to secure our country’s borders. It is now clear the Washington D.C. Democrats designed, built, and facilitated illegal mass migration, and they continue to defend the Biden-Harris-Mayorkas immigration policies to this day,” Rep. Brad Knott (R-NC) said. “I am proud of our work on the Homeland Security Committee to make the President’s policies permanent in the One Big Beautiful Bill. By removing those here illegally, especially the most dangerous, we can begin to construct an immigration system that furthers, not harms, our great country.”
