Chairman Green Issues Statement on the Capture of MS-13 Leader
March 27, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) issued the following statement after the Department of Justice announced the apprehension of an illegal alien from El Salvador and high-ranking leader of the transnational criminal organization and designated terrorist group, MS-13:
“It is disgraceful that one of the top leaders of this violent gang was walking free because of the Biden-Harris administration’s refusal to secure our borders and enforce the law. Under Biden and Harris’ radical, unlawful policies, MS-13 enriched itself through increased human trafficking and drug smuggling across our country. And Americans must understand that congressional Democrats and their ideological allies in the federal courts now want to make it harder for the Trump administration to remove these criminals.
“The Trump administration, by comparison, is laser-focused on securing our borders and dismantling these criminal organizations that benefited from four years of open borders and zero consequences. The message is clear, and it’s potent: America is no longer a safe haven for transnational criminal organizations. Americans can breathe a sigh of relief now that law and order is back.”
