WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released following statement after the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump this evening in Pennsylvania:

“Our prayers are with President Trump, and we look forward to his speedy recovery. We are grateful to all the members of law enforcement who reacted so quickly. Such violence has no place in our country. Whoever is responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.” 

Background: 

Shortly after the attempt on President Trump’s life, the Committee was in contact with the United States Secret Service and immediately requested an official briefing for our members. The Committee is grateful for the bravery and quick response of the Secret Service agents, and will be conducting thorough oversight to ensure the American people receive answers.
