Green, McCaul on Biden Administration’s Decision Declaring Cuba Compliant with U.S. Counterterrorism Efforts

May 20, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — Today, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) issued the following statement on the Biden administration’s determination that the Cuban regime is in compliance with U.S. counterterrorism efforts.

“The Biden administration’s decision to declare the communist Cuban dictatorship—a legally established state sponsor of terrorism—compliant with U.S. counterterrorism efforts not only rewards a hostile regime but emboldens our other adversaries as well,” the Chairmen said. “Over the last year, Havana has been caught spying on our highest levels of government, hosting a Chinese espionage facility in Cuba, and sending their citizens to fight for Russia in Ukraine. Only a completely delusional administration would determine that such a brutal, anti-American, and tyrannical regime is supporting U.S. efforts to counter global terrorism.”
