Chairman Green Issues Statement on IRGC-Connected Drone Attack in Syria

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) released the following statement regarding an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-connected drone attack on a coalition base in Syria, which killed an American contractor.

“The IRGC-supported terror group attack on U.S. forces in Syria is a chilling reminder that Iran and Iran-backed proxies seek to continue to do harm not just to Americans abroad, but also to our homeland. It cannot be any clearer that Iran should not be trusted. Yesterday, we lost an American at the hands of this aggressive regime. The basis of our approach to relations with Iran must be strength and deterrence. Handing Iran more power or latitude when it comes to the development of its nuclear program will not rein in this rogue regime. Our prayers are with the American contractor who lost his life, the U.S. troops injured, and their families. As Iran continues to target our critical infrastructure through cyber-attacks, exert foreign influence, and sow discord, this Committee will stand strong to combat nation state aggression and protect the homeland.”
