Rogers Praises Work of Katko, Green, Joyce and Van Drew on NDAA

WASHINGTON – Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), House Homeland Security Committee ranking member, released the following statement praising the work of Reps. John Katko (R-N.Y.), Mark Green (R-Tenn.), John Joyce (R-Pa.) and Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.) for their cybersecurity amendments included in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“I applaud the work of Reps. Katko, Green, Joyce and Van Drew for their critical work on strengthening and protecting America’s cyber infrastructure,” Rogers said. “These amendments all play a critical part in mitigating our nation’s cyberrisk and working to stay ahead of evolving cybersecurity threats. I’m proud of their dedication to getting these amendments included in this year’s NDAA and their strong leadership on this issue.”

Below are the list of amendments included in this year’s NDAA:

• Rep. Katko’s amendment directs the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to conduct a review of the ability of CISA to carry out its mission requirements.
• Rep. Katko’s amendment creates a 5-year term for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) CISA Director.
• Rep. Van Drew’s amendment instructs the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study to assess and analyze the state of availability of insurance coverage in the United States for cybersecurity risks.
• Rep. Green’s amendment allows CISA to hunt for and identify threats and vulnerabilities within Federal information systems.
• Rep. Joyce’s amendment directs the DHS Secretary to develop a strategy to implement across all United States-based email providers a Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance standard.
