WASHINGTON — Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, released a statement today following President Trump’s announcement that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in a U.S.-led raid.
“I want to applaud President Trump, the U.S. military, and intelligence community for successfully targeting and eliminating ISIS leader Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi. Baghdadi led one of the most brutal terror organizations in the world, which celebrated public executions, rape, torture and murder. His death should serve as a lesson to any would-be terror leaders around the world that seek to target the United States and our citizens. “Our fight against ISIS is not over. While the death of its leader is a tremendous blow for the group, about 10,000 ISIS fighters remain in the region and will continue to carry out guerrilla attacks and seek new territory.” ### |
