MEDIA ADVISORY: Chairman Gimenez Announces Hearing on TSA Cybersecurity
November 14, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Today, House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security Chairman Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) announced a hearing for November 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM ET, to examine how the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) manages cybersecurity risks within the transportation sector, particularly following the recent release of a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking affecting cybersecurity practices in rail, pipeline, and bus transportation.
“Our transportation networks, spanning across aviation, rail, public transit, highways, pipelines, and maritime ports increasingly rely on cyberspace for operation and coordination. A cyberattack on any of our critical infrastructure can halt commerce and create damaging effects to our economy and national security,” Chairman Gimenez said. “TSA’s numerous Security Directives aimed at addressing cyber risks have fallen short and lack necessary feedback from the transportation sector. It is vital we work together to build strong cybersecurity measures that protect our critical infrastructure and keep America strong.”
