Homeland Republicans Introduce Legislation to Block DHS’s New Intelligence Experts Group With Brennan, Clapper

September 27, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Republicans introduced legislation to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) newly-formed Homeland Intelligence Experts Group, which includes former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency John Brennan. The group was created to provide advice to DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), yet in 2020, Brennan and Clapper incorrectly implied the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s political influence peddling was the product of Russian disinformation.

This legislation follows a letter from the Committee, conducting oversight of the Office of I&A’s commitment to accurate intelligence sharing, as well as demanding information regarding the establishment and selection process of this group. Read more in the New York Post.

“Tens of thousands of migrants are flooding our southern border daily while the Biden Administration wastes its resources setting up an ‘Experts Group’ with the likes of James Clapper and John Brennan,”Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX) said. “These men abused their positions of power perpetuating the Russia Hoax and serving as partisan operatives for the Democrat Party. I’m proudly introducing legislation to defund this ‘experts group’ and ensure the Department of Homeland Security remains focused on its true mission—defending American citizens.”
