Katko Statement on China Exploitation of Microsoft Email Server Flaws
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Committee, issued the following statement on the Emergency Directive from CISA stating that Chinese hackers exploited flaws in Microsoft’s email server software:
“This appears to be yet another significant cyber incident impacting a wide range of potential victims within the government and the private sector. The intent of Chinese-backed hackers to exploit vulnerabilities like this across American infrastructure is sadly nothing new. I appreciate the swift issuance of an Emergency Directive by CISA as an important first step, but there is still much more to learn about the extent of this cyber campaign. My team is in touch with CISA, and I look forward to formal briefings in the near future.”
