October 13, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security Chairman Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) announced a hearing on Thursday, October 19, at 10 AM ET, to examine the role of technology in aviation security, specifically as it pertains to the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) ability to fulfill its mission to secure the aviation system.
“Advanced technology is vital to TSA’s ability to carry out its mission in American airports and we are concerned that the implementation of new technology is, frankly, taking too long,” Chairman Gimenez stated. “I look forward to hearing from our witnesses about the importance of innovative technology at security checkpoints and assessing TSA’s investment and deployment of critical security technology.”
