WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) joined Fox Business’ Evening Edit and Fox News’ Your World With Neil Cavuto to discuss the Committee’s oversight investigation into Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty at the Southwest border.

On the 85,000 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) unaccounted for under the Biden administration, Chairman Green said:

“We know the New York Times article that reported that number, they’re not known to be a very conservative organization and they were willing to shine the light on it and show 85,000—they can’t contact them, they can’t find them. And then they did find one family where a sponsor had like 20 of these children in one home, and they were basically using them for hard labor. And you can imagine what other people are doing and it’s all Mayorkas’ fault. They removed the background checks for sponsoring. This was a decision that Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made to remove the background checks for sponsors for unaccompanied children. It’s unbelievable what could be happening, what’s probably happening all on their hands.”

On border security efforts by the state of Texas, Chairman Green said:

“There’s a lawsuit filed [by the Biden administration] but I’m sure Governor Abbott is like ‘bring it,’ because the Constitution is pretty clear. States can take charge if they’re being overrun. That’s what the Constitution says, and clearly the state of Texas is being overrun. You get complaints from New York and Chicago, the migrants that are being shipped to them. In the case of New York City, it’s about 190 a day, and they’re a city of 11 million. El Paso, Texas is like 1,000 today, and they’re a city of 195,000. It’s insane what’s happening.”

On the Committee’s oversight investigation into Secretary Mayorkas, Chairman Green said:

“What I’m doing is a five-phased investigation into, basically, the failure to secure our border. We did the dereliction of duty phase, we’ve done the cartel crime, how the open border facilitates cartel crime—we’re going to do the human cost, then the financial costs, and then look at some waste, fraud, and abuse. But once we’re done with all that, that’s when I’ll make my final recommendations to the Judiciary Committee.”
