WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the latest edition of Homeland Republicans’ “Startling Stats” fact sheet, detailing the staggering costs of the crisis at the border.

The fact sheet highlights costs that have been reported, but the true cost of this crisis remains to be seen. Earlier this week, Katko and House Budget Committee Ranking Member Jason Smith (R-MO) sent a letter to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) calling on the Biden Administration to be clear and transparent with Congress and the American people about how many hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars the Administration’s border crisis is costing American taxpayers, particularly given the increasing likelihood that the Administration will make an emergency request for additional funds.

The crisis we’re facing today was entirely preventable. President Biden’s reckless policies invited this surge, and now American taxpayers are left footing the bill. It’s time for the Biden Administration to admit its mistakes and work with Congress on commonsense, bipartisan solutions.
