McCaul Statement on the Administration’s Sanctions Against Russian Cyber Actors

Washington, D.C. – House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement on the heels of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s announcement to sanction entities and individuals for interference with the 2016 U.S. elections and other malicious cyber-attacks.

Chairman McCaul: “Russia’s attempts to target America’s elections and other critical infrastructure sectors with cyber weapons must not go unpunished. We can no longer tolerate Russia’s actions that harm the United States and its allies through cyberspace. As I have consistently said, Russia is not our friend and can’t be trusted. I commend the Administration for leveling these new sanctions against Russia and sending a message that we will respond when attacked.”
