McCaul Statement on Secret Service Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) today issued the following statement regarding the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General’s (IG) report on the improper access of Chairman Jason Chaffetz’s personally identifiable information (PII). In a letter to the United States Secret Service (USSS) Director Joseph Clancy, the Chairman investigates the improper access of PII by USSS personnel.

“This IG report on the Secret Service’s failure to protect Chairman Chaffetz’s personal information is another unfortunate lack of judgement by Secret Service personnel. Secretary Johnson and Director Clancy must ensure all information is appropriately protected and the Secret Service, as a federal law enforcement agency, should not tolerate this disrespectful behavior. I’m disappointed once again the American people’s trust has been violated.”
