McCaul on the Benghazi Committee’s Final Report: Washington Failed Those Who Were Attacked

The Administration’s Reluctance to Identify the Nature of the Threat Continues to Put the American People in Harm’s Way

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement on the heels of the Select Committee on Benghazi’s final report:

Chairman McCaul: “The Benghazi Committee did commendable work, and finally the families of the victims and the American people have answers. The conclusion is clear: Washington failed those who were attacked on that terrible day by not heeding calls for additional security in Benghazi, and officials should be held accountable.  But the report also reminds us that the Administration’s reluctance to identify the nature of the threat—from Benghazi to Orlando—continues to put our people in harm’s way. Our nation is at war with Islamist terrorists, and they have made the world and our homeland their battlefield. To defend our country and bring justice to our enemies, we need leaders who won’t downplay the danger but who will confront it.”
