Katko Statement on Secretary Mayorkas’ Commitment to Strengthening Cybersecurity

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement on DHS Secretary Mayorkas’ plans to strengthen and secure our nation’s cybersecurity posture.

“In today’s hyper-connected world, cybersecurity and homeland security are inexorably linked. With highly sophisticated adversaries only getting bolder, our nation’s cybersecurity defenses must not only account for the threats of today but also for the emerging risks of tomorrow. I am encouraged to see DHS Secretary Mayorkas’ vision for the role of the Department in securing and strengthening our nation’s cybersecurity posture. Our shared priorities are simple: work with a broad range of partners to ensure that the risk landscape is understood, critical networks are fortified, infrastructure is resilient, and cyber threats are swiftly mitigated and countered. I look forward to working with Secretary Mayorkas to ensure CISA has the resources, authorities, and workforce it needs to carry out its mission and combat what I believe is the pre-eminent threat facing the homeland.”
