Katko on Response & Recovery Efforts to Tornadoes & Severe Weather

WASHINGTON, DC— Rep. John Katko (R-NY), lead Republican of the House Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement on the response and recovery efforts to the tornadoes and storms that impacted multiple states over the weekend.

“The devastation witnessed across several states this weekend is truly gut-wrenching. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost, as well as the brave first responders who continue to conduct heroic search and rescue efforts in the affected areas. While the full extent of the loss of life and damage is still being realized, it is clear we have witnessed a disaster of historic scale. As communities come together to mourn and begin the long, arduous road to recovery, we see the American spirit embodied in stories of resilience and hope amidst this tragedy. The Committee stands ready to work with the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to support disaster recovery efforts.”
