Bang for the Border Security Buck: What do we get for $33 billion?

March 15, 2018 2:00 PM | HOUSE CAPITOL VISITOR CENTER (HVC) ROOM 210

Late last year U.S. Customs and Border Protection leadership was asked to provide Congress with a list of what they needed to adequately secure the border. They responded in early January by delivering a document entitled, “Critical CBP Requirements to Improve Border Security.” This document detailed over $33 billion in major border security investments across four main categories: physical barriers, technology, access, and additional staffing.  This hearing will examine CBP’s proposal and the border security results an expenditure of that magnitude would potentially deliver for the American people.
