WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow, the Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications will hold a markup of H.R. 3283, the “Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Modernization Act of 2013,” H.R. 4263, the “Social Media Working Group Act of 2014,” and H.R. 4289, the Department of Homeland Security Interoperable Communications Act.”

  • H.R. 3283, the “Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Modernization Act of 2013,” introduced by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to modernize and implement the national integrated public alert and warning system to disseminate homeland security information and other information, and for other purposes.

An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute expected to be offered by Subcommittee Chairman Brooks.

  • H.R. 4263, the “Social Media Working Group Act of 2014,” introduced by Subcommittee Chairman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN), Subcommittee Ranking Member Donald Payne (D-NJ), Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS), and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to authorize the Department of Homeland Security to establish a social media working group, and for other purposes.

An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute expected to be offered by Subcommittee Chairman Brooks.

  • H.R. 4289, the “Department of Homeland Security Interoperable Communications Act,” introduced by Ranking Member Donald Payne (D-NJ) and Subcommittee Chairman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN), to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to require the Under Secretary for Management of the Department of Homeland Security to take administrative action to achieve and maintain interoperable communications capabilities among the components of the Department of Homeland Security, and for other purposes.
