Chairman Rogers on the hearing:
“Through a series of hearings, this subcommittee has been looking at ways that the Transportation Security Administration can optimize its development and procurement of screening technologies, which comprise a significant proportion of its budget. We have heard from industry and former Department officials, and we are looking forward to this next hearing to hear from current Department officials on ways that they are working to streamline these processes and promote innovation and jobs in the private sector. We know there are success stories, but we know that there are also untapped opportunities. We really must look as thoroughly as we can to ensure that we are giving the private sector all possible opportunities to contribute to the security mission while growing their businesses and providing much-needed jobs in that sector.”
