King Statement on President Obama’s Executive Order on Terrorist Detention

Washington, D.C. (Monday, March 7, 2011)– Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (R-NY), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s issuance of an Executive Order on indefinite detention:

“I commend the Obama Administration for issuing this Executive Order.  The bottom line is that it affirms the Bush Administration policy that our government has the right to detain dangerous terrorists until the cessation of hostilities.  This is clearly another step in the right direction.”
