Homeland Security Transportation Security Subcommittee to Hold Hearing on U.S.-Asia Transportation Security Cooperation- TOMORROW

Washington, D.C. – The Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation Security, chaired by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) will hold a hearing entitled “Building Secure Partnerships in Travel, Commerce, and Trade with the Asia-Pacific Region” tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in 311 Cannon House Office Building.

At tomorrow’s hearing, the Subcommittee will examine ways to facilitate U.S.-Asia relationships in order to improve U.S. security, travel, and commerce in the region. The Subcommittee will discuss the economic and security cooperation between the U.S. and Asia, and DHS’ presence in Asia, specifically as it relates to cargo and passenger security. Additionally, the Subcommittee will focus on information sharing between DHS and private sector partners, as well as between U.S. public and private sector entities and their Asia-Pacific counterparts.

Rogers said: "The Asia-Pacific region is an important partner to achieving U.S. economic growth and ensuring security of the global supply chain.  The hearing is an opportunity to discuss with public and private sector witnesses how the U.S. can strengthen its ties with the Asia-Pacific region to help spur U.S. job growth, while improving security of travel and commerce."
